In a nutshell, I am a 46 year old mother of two boys who recently made a major career change after almost 20 years and I am relearning who I am professionally. My background is in marketing, communications and PR. The majority of my career was in the nonprofit sector, but I decided that I wanted to see what the corporate world was all about. I am currently the Director of Communications and Public Relations for an international business process automation company. I studied English Literature in college and then attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. My plan was to be a lifer in retail but ended up taking a detour through the music industry and ended up in the arts. The common thread that tied these roles together was that they were all in creative industries. Like many bloggers before me, I am really looking forward to having this creative outlet to help satisfy that side of me while in my current role. I have been married to my husband Steve for almost 10 years. We met in Austin, but he is from New Zealand and our long-term plan is to move to what I consider to be the most beautiful place on earth (go kiwis!).
