For our last fun, fantasy-filled photoshoot, we wanted to play around with fashions for New Year’s Eve – and beyond – outfits (see previous fun, fantasy-filled photoshoots here and here). As with all our photoshoots, these fashions are attainable and inspired by our real lives. We ask ourselves the following question when deciding if something is “on brand” for AFL: Is this something we would wear, do, say, or shop for regardless of the blog? If the answer is yes, then we feel good posting it. We have been lucky enough to build careers that give us more than the occasional opportunity to wear everything from cocktail to gala dresses, so we have invested in a few pieces over the years, and consciously added as we go as we have found pieces that fit our needs, style, and budget.

Rags Consignment was kind enough to let me borrow this dreamy Adam Lippes dress. I was not one to go for the cape sleeve trend, but I loved the singular sleeve detail here. This dress doesn’t need much else to make it complete. Simple shoes, clutch and earrings do not detract from the drama of this outfit.

I scored these pants recently on sale from & Other Stories (a few pairs left for about $60 here). I paired them with a simple Saloni top I found at a consignment store for around $30 that I bought to wear with dressy pants and skirts for fancier events and it works with everything from sequins to jeans. All total, this outfit came to under $100 and look forward to wearing both pieces in endless ways. #costperwear

Jennifer is wearing a dress she purchased from her designer friend, CZAR by Cesar Galindo. Although she purchased this dress about 4 plus years now, the cut makes it timeless and the metallic fabric makes it on trend. She paired the high-end piece with a necklace from Banana Republic and a faux fur from Zara.

This amazing sequin jumpsuit is another CZAR creation that she wore to a gala in 2015 and will wear again in the future. Besides making a statement at a black-tie event, we think it works for edgier events, especially here in Austin. From SXSW to Austin City Limits Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, the options are endless. Add a velvet blazer and these beauties and she is good to go. The top hat is another purchase from Rags and makes this outfit perfect to ring in 2020!
