As Austin’s weather is finally warming up, I had been taking advantage of the unseasonably colder temps to dress more for fall/winter while I still can. I try to never complain about the weather in Texas, because it is almost cliche (Game of Thrones meme anyone?). However, as someone who lived in Vegas, I can tell you that Austin gets HOT. And once it gets hot, it gets seriously hot and stays that way for a long, long time. That is why when it is cold and we are all freezing, I keep my mouth shut and enjoy putting together cozy outfits for my everyday life. In this post, I am looking back on my recent cold weather style while figuring out which pieces I can transform to work in higher temperatures.

I love this H&M set. When I must look professional but can still show my creative side, I reach for this outfit time and time again. I have already worn the blouse with jeans and will wear it with a denim mini when the weather gets warmer. The pants are so lightweight that they will be perfect with a silky tank. All I need to do is grab a blazer and I am set to go from sweltering outside to near artic temps inside. #officeprobs

This multi-plaid Tanya Taylor mini was a “stalk Shopbop until their next sale” purchase and I have worn it as much as possible since it arrived. Since it is made of a high-quality wool, no matter how I style it, this skirt is just not feasible during a Texas heatwave. I will wear it again next fall/winter for sure. Besides the colors, I love the studded belt detail. Since cold weather style can tend to include a lot of black and other darker colors, this skirt a fun and cozy addition to brighten any winter wardrobe that could use a pop of color.

Lastly, the Clueless reunion made me realize that I did not wear this modern-day Cher inspired outfit enough while it was cold – and evidently, I have a thing for colorful, plaid, wool minis. I wore this to my casual office and then to a happy hour. I wore the boots most of the day but brought along my white Chuck Taylors just in case (I went classic, but I am eyeing this fun pair too). I have already worn the top with white jeans and a red Topshop bucket bag for a fun, casual outfit and look forward to wearing the skirt once again when it is colder. Funny, but I never would have thought as a yellow plaid wool mini skirt could be a closet classic, but here it is 24 years after Alicia Silverstone wore that two-piece number in the movie and it still works.
