Like practically every other fashionable woman on the planet, I love Kate Middleton’s style and try and copy it as much as possible. And while I don’t have her waistline, budget or overall lifestyle, I find ways to inject her style into mine.
When I saw her coming off the plane on a royal engagement a few months back, wearing an olive-green blazer and navy wide-leg trousers, I quickly saved a pic to my phone for workwear inspiration.
As a full-fledged Anglophile, I follow the UK brand, Reiss on social, get their newsletter, so when I spotted this light green, corduroy blazer on the site, I purchased it so I could finally copy Kate. I paired it with my black wide-leg trousers I had hanging in my closet (a staple every woman needs in her closet) for a day of work that included client meetings (one of those days where my casual work style would not do). I styled it with two of my favorite bargain finds, my Chanel pumps and Gucci pony hair purse – both I scored for under $200 each – thank you eBay and Moss!
A word about this blazer – while it isn’t exactly like Kate’s, the color is something I needed in my wardrobe. I already have enough khaki and other earth colors in my closet. I felt this lighter, brighter color would inject a pop of fun in my work wardrobe (this outfit is perfect for conventions and tradeshows) and I can picture wearing it countless ways in my more casual life (it looks great with jeans and a midi skirt/sneaker combo). The tailoring on the jacket is perfection and as this is my first Reiss purchase, I understand why this is a brand that Kate wears on the regular. The craftmanship and details are amazing. It is made of the softest, almost velvety-feeling corduroy making it luxurious but wearable. Never thought I would describe a piece of workwear as cozy, but here we are. Even the buttons are high quality. I know I will buy from Reiss again (In all honesty, I fell in love with one of their jumpsuits and added that to my cart as well – review and photos coming soon! It is beyond fabulous).
The blazer is on sale (!!!) and available in two other colors. I may need to invest in another one, especially the pink since it looks like it has matching pants and I love the idea of a pink corduroy suit for work! Check out the pink suit here.
