Winter Florals, Summer Dresses

It is no secret that Austin is hot. It is almost cliché to make fun of Texas Summers and how most Texans start to die once the temps dip below 70 (the Game of Thrones memes of “It’s 85 degrees in Texas…. Winter is coming” will never not make me laugh). Since Austin has a minimum of 300 days of sunshine a year, I have become rather adept at buying warm weather pieces that can be worn during the (brief) cooler months.

This Suno dress was a recent purchase at one of my favorite stores in Austin, Moss Designer Consignment. And while I cannot wait to wear it with fabulous sandals this summer, I was able to wear it while the weather was in the 40’s by adding tights, boots and a blazer. The dark colors make it perfect for winter, but I can already tell that the light, airy fabric and lively pattern will make this a dress I reach for again and again once the temps heat up.

The second dress was purchased at Moss’ sister store, Garment. This lovely Adele Simpson number had me at the smocked bodice and sweet tie at the neck – and it is both of those details that make it the perfect, work appropriate dress for under a blazer. And once again, all I have to do is ditch the blazer and add more summer accessories to make it perfect for warmer weather.
